Fruitport opened the 2019 season in strong fashion downing Shelby 5-0 in the opener and defeating Ludington 4-1 in the second game.  

In the opener, the Trojans started strong as Bryce Lanore, Carter Golden, Ryan Laus, Kaleb Krueger, and Logan Manciu found the back of the net.  Manciu also added two assists in the first game while Justin Laus posted a shutout in net registering 10 saves for the Trojans.

Against Ludington, the Trojans found the net early as Golden assisted Christian Swiatek to take a 1-0 lead. The lead held as the two teams went into the break with the Trojans leading 1-0.  The Orioles found the net early in the second half to tie the game before the Trojans scored three unanswered goals to finish the game.  Bryce Lanore's well placed free kick from 30 yards out gave the Trojans a 2-1 lead.  Minutes later, Lanore connected with Ryan Laus who found the net to take a 3-1.  Logan Manciu closed out the scoring with a great individual effort to take a 4-1 lead.  Justin Laus recorded 13 saves in net for Fruitport.  

Coach Hazekamp was proud of his team's performance noting, "I thought this was a good way to start the season.  We had to work through a little bit of everything today and it was a great opportunity for some of our younger players to get tested.  Our guys up front found the net but I am really pleased with the play of our back line.  Ethan Selle, Kaleb Krueger, Jaxon Deneen, and Charlie Swartz played strong all day long.  Couple that with high work rates from all 17 of our guys and we were able to get some nice results.  I'm really proud of our complete team effort."

Fruitport improves to 2-0 on the season and takes the field next at home versus Fremont, Friday at 6:45.

In JV action, the Trojans also went 2-0 defeating Shelby 4-0 and Ludington 1-0.
